Opening: Research Assistant

Open to undergraduates and Master’s students. Students from underrepresented and historically excluded groups are encouraged to apply.

Apply here by October 10, 2021.

We are seeking an undergraduate or Master’s student Research Assistant for the 2021-22 academic year. The Research Assistant will contribute to our research on spillover effects of malaria interventions. In settings approaching malaria elimination, transmission is low, and cases cluster in geographic “hot spots”. This study investigates the effectiveness of public health interventions delivered in the neighborhood around malaria cases. We are analyzing data from three randomized trials in Namibia, Eswatini, and Zambia. The Research Assistant will support spatial data processing; contribute to statistical analyses; make maps, figures, and tables; and conduct literature reviews and will have an opportunity to participate in peer-reviewed manuscripts.

Opening: Postdoctoral Fellow

We are recruiting a Postdoctoral Fellow with interests in infectious diseases, environmental and planetary health, global health, and/or epidemiologic methods. The Postdoc will have the opportunity to work on diverse scientific projects that advance methods for randomized and observational studies of infectious disease interventions and use spatial analyses linking environmental and epidemiologic datasets. The lab conducts research on malaria, influenza, COVID-19, enteric infection, and other outcomes and is engaged in both domestic and international research; there will be opportunities for both primary data collection and analyses of secondary datasets. There will also be opportunities to conduct independent lines of inquiry in complementary areas of research. The start date is flexible, and the position is initially for one year with the possibility of renewal based on performance. The salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. Stanford provides benefits including health insurance to all postdoctoral fellows. The search will remain open until the position is filled. See here for additional details.
